I
was born in Harlingen, Texas, and I still live there today. Harlingen
is almost as far south as you can go in Texas. It's only 25 miles
from Mexico.
I
have one older brother named Johnny. He and his wife, Jan, and
their two kids, Shannon and Chad, live in Pearland, Texas. I feel
very blessed that my parents, John and Susie Swope, live nearby
in Harlingen. |

When
I was young I liked to read Nancy Drew books, Hardy Boys books,
and books about Abraham Lincoln. (He was my hero.) On Saturdays
I rode my bike to the store to buy Archie comic books for a
quarter each. While I was there I'd get several rolls of nickels
or pennies to search for coins to add to my coin collection.
I
loved riding my bike, skateboarding, and hanging out with my
friend, Connie. I also loved spending time with my best friend,
Goober, who was a mix between a dauschund and a beagle.

I
married my husband, Rick, 28 years ago and we have two children,
Jeremy and Jennifer. When my children were younger, we took long
family vacations every summer. We loaded up our van and traveled
all over the United States. |
Jeremy
and Jennifer were always looking for ways to entertain themselves
since we were on the road for long periods of time. One day while
Jeremy was sleeping, Jennifer covered him with all of her stuffed
animals. Then she got comfy and played Nintendo for a while. |
Now
my children are all grown up, and I'm busy writing. I'm very thankful
that I'm able to write children's books. Not only do I think writing
is fun, but I've had a wonderful time visiting schools and making new
friends. I hope some day I'll be able to meet you!
